Fibromyalgia is a condition in which one has generalized pain. Some have pain when their muscles are pressed. Others have very sensitive skin. Others have a very deep ache in their bones.
I have a combination of the latter two that started about 25 years ago. This was one of the main reasons I moved into the specialty of Functional Medicine. It was the only specialty that was developing solutions to treat Fibromyalgia as well as other conditions for which there were no medications.
Common causes of Fibromyalgia include hypothyroidism, serotonin problems, candida in the intestines, food sensitivities, and Vitamin D deficiency. There are medications like Lyrica and Sevella now approved to treat Fibromyalgia. They can be very helpful; although I like to get to the root cause and treat it as these medications usually have side effects.
